About the Opportunity

In this role, you'll be at the heart of the Connect Up Program, working directly with families in high-needs areas of the City of Greater Geelong. Your primary focus will be on engaging children aged 0-12 years and their parents/carers, helping them navigate and access community resources. By being embedded in local community settings like kindergartens, schools, and community centers, you’ll facilitate meaningful connections, enhance parent participation, and support the integration of services that promote stronger, more resilient families.

The key objectives of this role are:

  • Deliver targeted early intervention and prevention strategies for families with children aged 0-12.
  • Facilitate group work and community engagement activities to boost parent involvement in universal services.
  • Provide secondary consultation and strengthen referral pathways for families to access additional health and welfare services.
  • Organise and deliver facilitated playgroups to enhance child development and parent-child interactions.

  • 0.8 FTE working 60.8 hours per fortnight

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care, Social Work, Psychology or other related Behavioural Sciences at degree or diploma level and a minimum of 12 months experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and facilitation of Community Engagement and/or Community Education activities such as peer-based support groups for parents, supported playgroups, community events, parenting group work.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage with children and parents and knowledge and experience in providing a range of family interventions including brief intervention, case work and group work. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrated capacity to work with high degree of autonomy in a co-located universal setting with competing priorities and a changing work environment.
