The key objectives of this role are:
- Crisis Management and Support: Offer empathetic crisis management, family violence education, and short-term telephone counseling to family members who have experienced family violence.
- Risk Assessment and Safety Planning: Conduct ongoing risk assessments and create personalized safety plans in line with MARAM responsibilities, FVISS, and CISS guidelines.
- Liaison and Coordination: Work closely with external agencies, men’s workers, and team leaders to manage risk and safety concerns, ensuring smooth referral pathways and effective case consultations.
- Program Facilitation: Co-facilitate therapeutic support and psycho-educational groups for women who have experienced family violence and provide compassionate court support through the VLA FASS program.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and detailed service user files and data, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and actively participate in supervision and team meetings.

About You
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Holds a relevant degree or post graduate qualification in Social Work, Psychology or related behavioral science, Criminology, or a related discipline and is willing to undertake further training to achieve Mandatory Minimum Qualifications. Or meets the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications for Family Violence Practitioners by meeting one of the below:
- Holds a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification, or
- Have been employed in the specialist family violence workforce before 1 July 2021 with continuous services (has not had a break from this work for more than 4 years), or
- Brings significant cultural knowledge or lived experience and is working towards a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification, or
- Holds at least 5 years of relevant professional experience or hold a related qualification and is working towards a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in the specialist family violence field, demonstrated particularly in provision of intake, risk assessment and case planning and working with male perpetrators of family violence.
- An understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and the impact upon women, children, and families and ability to specifically identify and work against collusion and minimisation of male family violence
- Well-developed observational, conceptual and analytical skills, together with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including written mediums to assist with program development, data collection, evaluation and key stakeholder engagement
