About the Role

The Intensive Caseworker, Youth Justice Community Support Service, will provide integrated and intensive voluntary support services to young people subject to Youth Justice involvement, with the aim of facilitating skill development, specifically independent living skills, problem solving and community engagement to reduce the risks of re-offending. This role may include after-hours activities suitable to the young person and family. 

The key objectives of this role are:

  • Support young people and their families to reduce the rate, severity and frequency of offending behaviour.
  • Enable the effective transition of young people from intensive tertiary services to their community (particularly post Youth Justice involvement).
  • Facilitate the development of independent living skills, increased capacity for social inclusion and resilience for adulthood.
  • Develop a young person’s capacity for economic participation and engagement in education, training and employment opportunities.

  • 0.6 FTE working 45.5 hours per fortnight

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in Youth Work, Social Work or Community Welfare (Diploma+). Will consider a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in providing case management support to vulnerable individuals and families utilising the Best Interests Case Management Framework.
  • Proven ability to engage and case-manage young people at risk and young people exhibiting challenging behaviours
  • An understanding of the impact of trauma on young people and the ability to work from a trauma informed approach
  • Ability to undertake needs identification and risk assessments to inform decision making, planning and interventions for an individual or family plan
  • Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture.
