Lead Community Initiatives That Make a Lasting Impact
Are you passionate about supporting young people, strengthening families, and fostering safer communities? Meli is seeking a Communities That Care Coordinator to drive community-led initiatives that reduce risk factors for youth and promote positive development across Geelong.
This role is an exciting opportunity to lead the Geelong Communities That Care Steering Committee, oversee evidence-based programs, and build partnerships that create lasting change for children, young people, and families.
About the Role
As the Communities That Care Coordinator, you will:
- Lead the Geelong Communities That Care Steering Committee, facilitating collaboration between key stakeholders and ensuring the successful implementation of the Geelong Communities That Care Action Plan.
- Oversee and maintain the integrity of evidence-based programs, including Strengthening Family Connections and Ahead of the Game, ensuring they are delivered effectively and in line with best practice.
- Build and maintain strong community partnerships, working closely with local schools, government agencies, and community organisations to align services with community needs.
- Identify funding opportunities and support grant applications to sustain and expand Communities That Care initiatives.
- Drive ongoing evaluation and quality improvement, using data and community feedback to enhance program effectiveness and inform strategic planning.

Position Details
- Fixed term position until 23 June 2025
- 0.8 FTE working 60.8 hours per fortnight
- $115,319 (pro-rata) p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We're Looking For
We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, Teaching, or a related discipline.
- Experience leading community initiatives, implementing programs, and fostering strong partnerships within the health, welfare, or primary prevention sectors.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to write reports, develop strategic plans, and present information effectively.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to manage projects, coordinate stakeholders, and oversee program evaluation.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, ensuring programs are impactful, sustainable, and responsive to community needs.
