Are you committed to supporting families through early intervention and tailored support? Meli is seeking a compassionate and skilled Child and Family Practitioner to join our Family Support and Care Services team. Based in the Barwon Southwest area, this role focuses on strengthening families, building resilience, and promoting healing from trauma before challenges become entrenched.

You’ll work with individuals and families experiencing complex needs, offering a mix of assertive outreach, case management, and evidence-informed interventions. As part of the Strengthening Stream, your work will contribute to increased safety, connection, and wellbeing for children, adolescents, and their families.

About the Role

As a Child and Family Practitioner, you will:

  • Deliver targeted early intervention and family support services through case management, assertive outreach, and group work.
  • Build protective factors and resilience in families by addressing risk and improving parenting capacity and wellbeing.
  • Conduct risk and needs assessments and co-develop family action plans to guide support and service referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to ensure coordinated, wraparound support.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, data collection, and reflective practice to support best outcomes for clients.

This role is all about connection—working closely with families to provide meaningful support that strengthens relationships, promotes independence, and empowers families to thrive.

  • Full-time (1 FTE) and Part-time (0.8 FTE) roles
  • $97,614 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging (pro-rata for part-time position)

What We're Looking For

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare Studies, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Behavioural Sciences or a related field.
  • Experience delivering family support and case management to families with complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of early intervention, therapeutic frameworks, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with families, community organisations, and government services.
  • Confidence conducting risk and needs assessments and developing tailored intervention plans.
