We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Restorative Family Worker to join our Reignite Program and help families navigate challenges, repair harm, and move forward together.

About the Role

As a Restorative Family Worker in the Reignite program in our Youth Justice team, you will:

  • Facilitate restorative conversations, circles, and conferences with young people (aged 10–15) and their families.
  • Support families to identify needs, repair relationships, and co-create sustainable solutions.
  • Provide short-term case management and connect families with relevant services.
  • Collaborate with schools, youth justice, child protection, and community services to ensure holistic, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed support.
  • Contribute to reflective practice, program evaluation, and uphold Meli’s values in all aspects of your work.

Position Details

  • Fixed term position until 30 June 2026
  • 0.8 FTE working 30 hours per week
  • $101,032 (pro-rata) p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We're Looking For

We value individuals who bring empathy, professionalism, and a restorative mindset to their work. To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Welfare (Diploma or higher), or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in restorative practice, particularly with young people who have caused harm.
  • Strong skills in engaging families, conducting assessments, and developing tailored support plans.
  • An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
  • Desirable: Experience working with high-risk youth and familiarity with restorative justice programs such as Youth Justice Group Conferencing.
